The German architect Sep Ruf was commissioned to design a residence for the chancellor of the young German democracy in the modernist style. The building is situated in the park of the Palais Schaumburg in Bonn which used to be th chancellor's office at the time. Ruf's building become one of the eminent buildings of German post-war architecture.
